This is what democracy looks like but Sunak’s eyes are closed

The Big One, heard of it? No, probably not. The press, along with the Government and Prime Minister, have failed once again to bring public attention to the only war that’s worth fighting: the war against climate change.
Last weekend, protesters marched against a backdrop of Big Ben. A soundtrack of chants surged through the 60,000-strong crowd, delivered by voices hoarse from shouting at those with selective hearing.
Too determined to give up now, they'll scream until their lungs give out, parade until their knees buckle, and fight until the battle's won.
The Houses of Parliament watched over us as we lay in the street, helpless, imitating the horrific scenes that will inevitably follow if the Government does not act now.
But what was it all for? We rallied, we cheered for Chris Packham, we held our banners high.
We preached to the converted.
The press did not stand with us and Rishi Sunak was nowhere to be seen. Even when featured, journalists rarely managed to report the peaceful event without mention of public transport disruption and the London Marathon.
How then, do we get the message out? How can we stress our inevitable collective downfall while the media paints us 'eco-zealots'? How will our plea be heard?
I don't pretend to have the answers but I know it's our turn to shout. The little people must have their say because the media, Whitehall and the Prime Minister will not speak for us. They are no longer working in the interest of the public, they are no longer serving you and I. It’s time to claim back what is ours. It’s time to claim back our green spaces, our streets, our lives. It’s time to act.
